On this trip we will venture in the footsteps of the greatest saints and martyrs of our Catholic heritage. We will experience the history and magnificence of Rome firsthand and explore the most incredible places of Italy.
This trip features four full days in the Eternal City. We will explore Rome’s greatest sites, from the tunnels of crypts and catacombs to the many ancient amphitheaters and early Christian churches.
Siena, found in the heart of the Chianti region of Tuscany, is one of Italy’s most beautiful cities. Here we will spend a day exploring the life of Saint Catherine, the great mystic and Doctor of the Church.
Our pilgrimage features a day-trip to Orvieto, home to one of Italy’s finest Gothic cathedrals, the Duomo of Orvieto, which serves as a solemn reliquary for the Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena!
For two days we will explore Assisi following in the footsteps of the great Saints Francis and Claire! Our time in Assisi also features a day-trip across the mountains to Norcia and a Benedictine monastery!
Please reference the brochure (found at top of webpage) for the full itinerary.
Easter Sunday, April 17
Today we depart from Washington Dulles on United Airlines flight 884 at 5:20 PM. Detailed departure information will be communicated a few months prior to departure.
Land of Saints and Miracles
The first three days of our pilgrimage will be spent exploring the most beautiful and sacred places of central Italy: Umbria and Tuscany. We call it the “Land of Saints and Miracles.”
Our first stop? Orvieto, home to the first church-approved Eucharistic miracle, dating back nearly 800 years! We’re then off to Assisi, the “Seraphic City” – so beautiful that the Seraphim seem to live there. It was in the mountains of Assisi that Saint Francis and Saint Claire experienced massive conversions of soul and then went on to change the world for the better.
We’ll also visit the Benedictine monastery at Norcia, the birthplace of the great founder of Western monasticism – Saint Benedict, and his sister Saint Scholastica. Benedict’s influence is so great that he stands out as a patron of Europe.
Last but not least, Siena. Also a patron of Europe, Saint Catherine’s enormous influence was built on nothing more than deep prayer, and the entire content of Europe benefited because of her! We’ll also see the Eucharistic miracle of Siena!
The City of Peter and Paul - Roma
Rome is the Eternal City. There is no place more beautiful and more important in the history of the world than Rome. As Catholics, we know that Rome’s eternal purpose of civilizing and saving the world through the work of Christ’s Church continues every day.
This trip features four full days in Rome. During this time we will explore the history and places of Rome’s incredible three-thousand year history, highlighting the artistic and architectural treasures along the way. The itinerary includes a Papal Angelus, the Scavi Tour, the Colosseum and Roman Forum, the Catacombs, the Four Major Basilicas, the Best Baroque Churches and Monuments of Rome, the Jesuit Churches, and so much more.
We’ll also take a day trip to the mountain-top monastery of Monte Cassino, the burial place of the Saints Benedict and Scholastica!
Monday, April 25
Following breakfast we will depart for Rome’s Fiumicino airport. Our flight United Airlines 885 is scheduled to depart at 11:00 AM. At 3:05 PM we’ll touch down at Washington Dulles. Welcome home!
