The parishioners, choir, and guests of Ave Maria Parish travel to Rome and Assisi under the direction of Mark Haas, Director of Music. Seven nights, daily Mass, and guided visits to the great basilicas, shrines, and holy sites of both cities, from the tombs of the Apostles in Rome to the Franciscan sanctuaries of Assisi.
As a choir pilgrimage, the program is built around three scheduled sung Masses: at the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter in St. Peter’s Basilica, at Santa Maria Maggiore beneath the icon of the Salus Populi Romani, and in the Lower Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi, beside the tomb of the Poverello. A sung Traditional Latin Mass at Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini (FSSP) is also a possibility. All choir reservations are coordinated by ProRome and remain subject to confirmation by each church.
Beyond the sung Masses, the pilgrimage takes in the Papal Wednesday General Audience, the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, St. Paul Outside the Walls, St. John Lateran, the relics of the True Cross at Santa Croce, the Baroque churches of central Rome, and the Eucharistic Miracle of Bolsena at the Duomo of Orvieto, then Assisi’s San Damiano, St. Clare, and the Portiuncola. The land package is $3,166 per person, double occupancy; international airfare of $1,591 is quoted separately. A ProRome Tour Manager accompanies the group throughout.

International airfare is confirmed at $1,591 per person on Air France, flying the whole group together from Miami (MIA) via Paris, and is billed separately from the land package. Give ProRome your name exactly as it appears on your passport, since airline name changes after ticketing carry a fee or may not be permitted at all.
ProRome Tours will send you a complimentary Allianz insurance quote as soon as you register. We strongly recommend that every pilgrim purchase travel insurance.
This is an active, walking pilgrimage. Much of Rome’s historic core lies within the Zona a Traffico Limitato (ZTL), where tour coaches cannot operate, so the group travels on foot between many sites. Expect roughly 3 to 7 miles of walking on the busier days, much of it on cobblestones, hills, and stone steps, and both Assisi and Orvieto involve significant uphill walking. We recommend pilgrims begin walking now to prepare, in well broken-in shoes.
Approximately six weeks prior to departure ProRome will host a Pre-Trip Zoom Meeting. This meeting is mandatory, and if you cannot attend, a recording of the meeting will be sent to you. An invitation to this meeting will be sent to you by email a few weeks in advance.
Approximately one month before departure, ProRome Tours will send trip boxes to all participants. Items include name tags, luggage tags, final detailed itineraries, and more. Two weeks before departure, ProRome Tours will email each pilgrim the final trip information: detailed itineraries, rooming lists, e-ticket numbers (if booked through ProRome), and any other pertinent details.
