About This Pilgrimage

Join Eagle Eye Ministries on pilgrimage from Our Lady of Medjugorje to the tomb of St. Peter

The Eagle Eye Ministries pilgrimage crosses the hills of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Eternal City over nine nights. Holy Mass is the cornerstone of every day and is celebrated at Saint James in Medjugorje, at the martyrdom site of the friars of Široki Brijeg, among Fra Angelico’s frescoes at San Marco, and in St. Peter’s Basilica.

The journey opens with three nights in Medjugorje, the town where Our Lady appeared to six young people. The group prays at Saint James Church with time for confessions, climbs Apparition Mountain at Mount Podbrdo, joins adoration and the candlelight rosary procession, and drives out to Široki Brijeg, where thirty Franciscan friars were executed without trial in 1945, and to Tihaljina and its statue of Our Lady of Grace.

Two nights in Florence follow: Brunelleschi’s dome and the climb up Giotto’s bell tower, Mass at Santo Spirito and at San Marco where St. Antoninus is buried, Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia, and Santa Croce. The pilgrimage then culminates in four nights in Rome: St. Peter’s Basilica, the historic center and the tomb of St. Catherine of Siena, St. Paul Outside the Walls, the Abbey of Tre Fontane, the Catacombs of St. Sebastian, and the Papal Audience with Pope Leo XIV before the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.

Additional Trip Information

Practical details to help you prepare for the Eagle Eye Ministries pilgrimage.

Flight Information

The pilgrimage is priced land only. ProRome group air is $1,224 per person, flying into Sarajevo (SJJ) and home from Rome Fiumicino (FCO), connecting through Vienna. Confirmed flight details appear in the Group Flight Information section above. Questions: office@prorome.com.

Lodging Information

The group stays in religious guest houses throughout. Medjugorje (3 nights): guesthouse in the parish area, walking distance from Saint James. Florence (2 nights): religious guest house in the city. Rome (4 nights): religious guest house near the Vatican. Rooms are double occupancy, with single rooms available for the surcharge. Group Meals

Daily breakfast and one other meal are included, either lunch or dinner depending on the day’s itinerary, with the exception of the arrival and departure days. The remaining meals are on your own, allowing pilgrims to explore at their own pace. Beverages other than water are not included at group meals.

Dietary & Health

Dietary needs are not a problem. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and celiac pilgrims are all accommodated. Note any allergy or dietary restriction in writing when you register, so it is in place before you arrive, and remind your tour manager at the start of the trip.

All participants are expected to be in active good health and able to travel as part of a group. Walking, stairs, and uneven ground are required throughout, including the climb up Apparition Mountain. Any medical condition needing special attention should also be reported in writing at registration.

What to Pack

Late May is warm and often sunny, with Medjugorje and Florence around 70 to 80°F and Rome warmer still, and afternoon thunderstorms possible. Bring broken-in walking shoes with real grip for Apparition Mountain, modest attire for churches with shoulders and knees covered, a light layer for cool evenings, sun hat and sunscreen, and a compact rain shell. A daypack, refillable water bottle, universal power adapter, and prescription medications in original containers round it out. Pack light: you move between three lodgings.

Placing Calls

From a U.S. phone, dial the international code “011” or “+”, then the country code: 387 for Bosnia and Herzegovina, 39 for Italy, then the number. Contact your service provider a few days before departure to activate international calling and data, and check that your plan covers both countries.

Crisis Management

If lost: stay put, call your tour manager, or take a taxi to the guesthouse. If you lose your passport, phone, or wallet: notify your tour manager immediately; the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo and the U.S. Embassy in Rome can issue replacement passports. If injured: notify your tour manager and we arrange emergency transport. Read the full plan →
