ProRome pilgrims

Work with ProRome Tours

Careers

ProRome runs more than 50 group pilgrimages a year, and every one of them travels with a ProRome tour manager from the first morning to the last. That is where we need people. Our office team is fully staffed at the moment, but we are always looking for tour managers to lead our groups in Italy, across Europe, and in the Holy Land.

Our tour managers are teachers as much as coordinators. Every applicant must hold a bachelor's degree, preferably in the humanities, and be able to teach a group about the places they visit.

Why lead with ProRome

A ProRome tour manager has two jobs, and they carry equal weight. The first is teaching: explaining the history, art, and faith behind each church, shrine, and city, so pilgrims understand what they are seeing and why it matters. The second is coordinating: keeping the group together, on time, and well cared for from arrival to departure. We look for people who can do both, and we set the work up so you can do it well.

Groups that travel to pray

Our groups come from parishes, dioceses, schools, and religious communities, usually with their own priest. Daily Mass is built into the itinerary, and the people you lead are there for the same reason you are.

A full team behind you

Our office in Virginia and our team in Rome go over every tour in detail. Hotels, coaches, guides, Mass reservations, and entrance tickets are confirmed before you land, and someone is reachable while you are on the road.

Training before your first group

We have spent years forming our tour managers. New tour managers learn our standards and procedures before they lead, and many start out alongside an experienced member of the team.

Clear terms, your schedule

Each trip has its own written agreement, paid by the touring day, with half paid before the tour starts and expenses reimbursed. Lead one trip a year or many; you tell us when you are available.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in the humanities: theology, philosophy, history, classics, art history, or literature.
  • A real capacity for teaching. Teaching is as central to the role as coordinating. You should be comfortable explaining a basilica, a saint's life, or a period of Church history to a group of 40 people, in a way that holds their attention.
